VEHICLES HUMOUR

Only PLC and LTD Companies with a large employee workforce need worry… FICTION!

Real Case of what can happen if procedures are not followed.

An employee with a large executive car loaned it to his wife and came to work in her somewhat aged Ford Fiesta.

During the day the husband needed to make a visit on behalf of the company and decided to use the Fiesta.

During the journey the brakes failed and the driver was killed.

The wife is currently suing the employer for allowing the driver to use an unsafe vehicle on company business.

Questions?

Was her Ford Fiesta on the company approved lists for; Insurance, Servicing and Regular inspections.

Did her Husband have a Duty of Care Handbook explaining his employer policy on the use of vehicles for company business

Did the employer instruct her Husband to drive her car on company business. Was her Husband not offered a company/pool car.

FACT - IF YOU ASK ANYBODY TO DRIVE ANYWHERE ON BUSINESS FOR WHATEVER REASON MAKE SURE THAT PERSON AND VEHICLE ARE PERMITTED
